LGBTQ Reactions
In the spring of 2009, I conducted a unit focusing on LGBTQ issues in our society. It was explored immediately after our unit on Malcolm X, and seen as a continuation of our examination of civil rights. The overall reactions were exceedingly positive, with students self-reporting significant change in their attitudes and behavior. They attributed this to a greater understanding of the issues that LGBTQ individuals may face in our society.
